• Krispy Kreme • Doughnuts of the World launch in South Africa!

• Krispy Kreme South Africa • Doughnuts of the World •

Hiya everyone

What a pleasant surprise?! I really appreciate how brands have been upping their game lately with new launches, brand experiences, content creation etc. I was very #blessed to be sent a dozen Krispy Kreme Doughnuts yesterday (although, long story, they had to be taken back to store and I ended up collecting them today).

Krispy Kreme South Africa have just launched their Doughnuts of the World range! Inspired by the delicious flavours of iconic desserts from around the world, these doughnuts will take your taste buds on a flavourful journey.

I can tell you upfront that I brought these doughnuts to the office at about 2.30pm and they're all gone beside the Lemon Cheesecake and Banoffee Pie ones I forebode my colleagues from scoffing! There are only 6 of us here today, of which 4 are health/gym freaks who barely ever touch sugar! So, they're either that good or that budget forecast meeting on Wednesday really took it out of us ;)

I'll drop in some info below on flavours in more detail from the press release, but from my standpoint Krispy Kreme took some great inspiration from the UK and US, and locally of course, for their limited edition flavours. Not quite "of the world" but from across the globe, certainly!

There are two 'American flavours', the lemon cheesecake is a delish, unique flavoured bun while the Ol' Glory stuck with what they know - the original glazed just splashed with a little blue, red and white decor.
Side note, the original glazed will never beat any other doughnut that Krispy Kreme will ever release - it's just that good!

For the 'British flavours' we have an ode to strawberries and cream (which melts quite quickly, just so you know) and my favourite dessert flavour ever, Banoffee Pie *insert heart eyes emoji. Then there is a Banoffee Pie Kremey Chiller! Definitely hitting Gateway this weekend to grab one!

Local flavours include a good ol' apricot jam fill (is that unique to SA?) and then a caramel popcorn bun, which sadly doesn't appeal to me in the slightest...

So! Get to a Krispy Kreme before 31 August if you want to try these limited edition flavours. You won't regret it, but your waistline may...

Board the flavour plane and head to the United Kingdom for a Banoffee PieDoughnut, an unglazed shell filled with Banana Caramel Kreme dipped invanilla icing & topped with peanut brittle finished off with chocolate drizzle. While you’re there try the local favourite, of Strawberries and Kreme which isan unglazed shell sandwich of Strawberry Kreme, lightly dusted with polka dots& topped with a Strawberry Kreme swirl & fresh strawberry. It's back on the plane as we head to the United States, home of Krispy Kreme. Here as we indulge in the world famous Lemon Cheesecake doughnut, which isa shell filled with zesty Lemon Cheesecake Kreme, topped with crushedGraham Cracker & finished with lemon curd drizzle. As we know the UnitedStates are very patriotic so do not leave without tasting the Ol’ Glorydoughnut, - an Original Glazed ring, topped with hand piped blue, red & whiteicing finished off with blue, red and white sprinkles.
We head back home to South Africa for some of our local favourites; aCaramel Popcorn Doughnut which is an original glazed ring dipped in caramelicing, crowned with Caramel Popcorn and finished off with a chocolate drizzle. For those after something fruitier to tickle those taste buds the Apricot Jam
Filled doughnut is for you because it is an old school favourite of a shelldoughnut tossed in sugar while hot, and then filled with apricot jam.
To add to this wonderful adventure, Krispy Kreme South Africa is also bringingthe joy of the United Kingdom to you with the introduction of an ‘out of thisworld’ Banoffee Pie Kremey Chiller which is a caramel and banana infusedtopped with peanut brittle and caramel drizzle.

• Beauty • Neutrogena Hydro Boost Review

• Beauty • Neutrogena Hydro Boost Review • Jane Wonder

Hiya everyone

I was sent a few of the new Neutogena Hydro Boost products to test out and, boy, have they come in handy! I have been travelling so much in the last few weeks, constant flights between Durban and Johannesburg, and my skin was taking a beating!

I'm sure you've experienced it before, as soon as you start to ascend to a higher altitude (i.e. flying in general or travelling between cities such as Durban and Johannesburg) you start to feel your facial skin tightening and your lips needing a couple extra coats of lip balm. Well, try doing that every week!

My Neutogena Hydro Boost products couldn't have come at a better time!

I was sent three products, their Hydro Boost Cleanser Micellar Water, Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser and their Hydro Boost Gel Cream Moisturiser.

Hydro Boost it certainly does!

My favourite product of the lot was the Gel Cream Moisturiser! The texture of the product is unbelievable and the fragrance is super fresh and clean. In my few weeks of using it, it certainly did a great job of keeping my skin hydrated! My only qualm was that it was slightly too hydrating when I was in Durban as it has been so hot and humid lately! Don't get my wrong, I'll take oilier skin over dry skin any day (oiler skin doesn't crack/wrinkle) but I have proffered using it when I am in the harsher Johannesburg climate.

Neutrogena cleansers are my absolute favourite drugstore cleansers, so it was no surprise to me that I loved their new Hydro Boost offering! I already use their Fresh Foaming Cleanser (which I believe is a fave of Kim Kardashian) and their Spot Clearing Facial Wash which I can't live without. Again, the texture and fragrance of this cleanser is tops, my skin doesn't feel squeaky clean (i.e. taught) after using it, and it also has an "open-close" turning pump which helps when I travel.

I was neither overwhelmed nor underwhelmed by the Micellar Water, I was just "whelmed" as Bianca would say in 10 Things I Hate About You. Micellar water is such a hyped about product these days and I have tried a bunch! This one did the job, but I can't really tell a huge difference between this, my Garnier Pure Active (I haven't tried the Oil Infused one yet) and Bioderma Micellar Water. Maybe this is a good thing though? It's equally as good as other leading micellar waters.

Hyaluronic acid is the active ingredient in this range. It's moisture-binding characteristic is exceptionally important when it comes to skin aging. One of the qualities of youthful skin is its ability to hold water and retain a balanced amount of moisture. As we age, our skin loses the ability to maintain this vital, plumping moisture as well as it once did. The result is visible loss of firmness, pliability, and diminished appearance of plumpness and suppleness.

Hyaluronic acid can enhance moisture content beyond comparison with anything else, and at the same time revitalize skin’s outer layers so they look and feel softer, smoother, and, especially, radiantly hydrated! That’s how it instantly improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid is quite high up in the ingredient list so that is always a plus, which is especially great for a drugstore product.

You can grab The Neutrogena Hydro Boost range from Dischem stores and online for the following prices:
Hydro Boost Cleanser Micellar Water 200m - R95.75
Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser 200m - R95.75
Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturiser 50m- R129
Hydro Boost Gel Cream Moisturiser 50m - R199
Hydro Boost 25s Facial Wipes - R95.75

• OOTD • When In Birlin + Giveaway

Hiya everyone ♡

I hope you're having a wonderful week so far!

As you may know, I am working with Birlin and running a competition where a lucky reader can win a pair of these shades and a whole bunch of beauty goodies (you can read the whole competition post here). So, I met up with Robyn from JessieBird Photography to take some photies to share how I style my sunnies.

When I knew it was time for an outfit shot I knew I wanted to wear my newest obsession, these floral trainers from MRP - how stunning are they? I have been getting so many compliments on them! They're still available, people! Click here to grab them online for only R169.99.

Both the sunnies and the trainers have a hint of pink, so I paired them with a cute pastel top (also from MRP) and a pair of DIY knee-ripped denim. When the ripped jeans trend first came out I could only find a nice pair from Topshop. I don't like spending a whole paycheck (dramatic, just kidding) on trends and would way rather opt for a budget-friendly option, so I picked up a cheap pair of jeans from MRP and cut a line along where my knees go, a little extra rip here and there and voila! These jeans are actually so comfy, I am super chuffed with them.

Back to the competition, it's a quick and easy entering process! Scroll to the bottom of the post to find the links to click to enter. Please make sure you comment on the correct photo to make your entry count - good luck!

• Giveaway • Birlin Sunglasses from YDE

Birlin Sunglasses Giveaway || Jane Wonder

Hiya everyone ♡

Let me start by saying I sincerely apologise for the radio silence on the blog the last two weeks. I am doing a course which I had an assignment due for and I totally forgot what it was like to do an assignment :/ I have been out of varsity for 8 years after all! Besides that and some extreme personal stress that I am going through I really put the blog on the back-burner, BUT I have so many blog ideas so I am going to try to blog as much as possible!

Let's get to the fun stuff!

I posted about my love for Birlin sunglasses in a post about 5 months ago, it was a monthly favourites post that you can check out here. I have also posted numerous times on Twitter and Instagram about the different styles they have available at YDE - I even asked for advice on which ones to get which you guys helped me with! Here are a few of the pics -

It just so happens that Birlin saw my blog post and asked if I want to work with them on a giveaway - um yar!

Let's start off by showing you my 6 pairs of Birlin sunnies that I have. The below are mostly from the latest collection but the one I showed in my May Favourites (the matte blush pair) is from the collection before. I also had a beautiful pair of rose gold aviators - but I lost them!

If you watched my Snapchat or Instagram story then you would know, but they disappeared at a wedding. I wore them during the ceremony but took them off when it got dark (I'm not that guy...) at the reception. When the venue cleared the tables at the end of the night they magically vanished. I was devastated.

Anywhoooo, here is my collection - I love every one of them

Top right - slight rose tinted lens with light pink print frame and arms - the giveaway sunnies!
Middle left - mirrored lens with camel acetate frames (very trendy, my current fave pair)

• Home • Rose Gold

Hiya everyone ♡

Rose Gold, my one true love... Just kids. I really do love rose gold though. It's been an affair that started three years ago and ever since then the rose gold and copper trend has flourished!

Luckily for us (almost every lass I know loves rose gold), there are so many stores that have caught on to this trend with fab homeware pieces for everyone. @home and Typo definitely take the cake for the sheer quantity of rose gold goodies they have in-store (some of the rose gold items I saw at Gateway this week aren't on the Typo website for me to get a photo).

If you live in the UK then it'll be even easier to find rose gold and copper goodies - Primark, Homesense, Urban Outfitters, Next Home, H&M, etc etc (I'm jelly).

I'm dying for the #1 item on my list below; the Modern Mirror would perfectly replace the silver mirror on my vanity (especially since it's the only silver item in my beauty room!). Hint hint, birthday present...

Rose Gold Home || Jane Wonder

1. Mirror Modern Rose Gold 35cm from @home - R 349.00
2. Metal Candle Stick from MRP Home - R139.99
3. On a Wire Frame from Typo - R199
4. Mirror Honeycomb 32x28cm from @home - R299
5. Cocktail Dispenser with Rose Gold Tap (6pc) from @home - R499
6. You Are My Greatest Adventure Poster in Blush (unframed) from Seven Swans at We Heart This - R170
7. Shower Caddy from @home - R299
8. Copper Plated Cutlery Set from Woolworths - R399

Clicks and Dischem Beauty Haul || Jane Wonder

Hiya everyone ♡

I had a sneaky drugstore beauty haul in the past week - eeek, don't judge me!

What started out as a mission for affordable spot treatments, turned into a full blown spree. I chose affordable products so the prices per item isn't high - but you know how those little costs add up!

I had to get my hands on the brand new Vaseline spray moisturiser too, and I am happy to report they are freely available in Clicks and Dischem. The other goodies were items on an ever-growing beauty shopping list, but certainly weren't needed at this point!

So, let's dive in! I have also done a few late night sessions on learning about product ingredients so I have added those in too.

Clicks and Dischem Beauty Haul || Cala Beauty Sponge || Jane Wonder

• Cala Beauty Sponge - R74.95  •

Hallelujah for a super-affordable makeup sponge! The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge has been my fave for ages now, but I have been told that there may be some changes with the texture of the sponge. I am really worried that this will change the efficacy, so I thought I would try out the Cala one in the mean time.

I bought the purple one (that's my favourite colour in case you didn't know) at Dischem last week. It is a different shape from both that of the Real Techniques sponge and the original Beauty Blender (which I have never tried). As long as it has that tapered tip - I'm happy!

I am really glad to report that I have used it about 4 times now and it works really well! I still need to test how long the sponge lasts and if it continues to work as well as it does now based on inevitable texture 'aging'. I will feedback if I have any negative news after a few weeks.

Cala is exclusively found at Dischem. They have the most beautiful, effective and affordable makeup tools - I have so many makeup brushes from Cala. Unfortunately the Beauty Sponge is not on sale on the website, but I purchased mine from the La Lucia store last week.

Clicks and Dischem Beauty Haul || Sorbet Salon Skin Specialist Care Breakout Correcting Gel || Jane Wonder

• Sorbet Salon Skin Specialist Care Breakout Correcting Gel - R110 •

My skin has really been troubling me lately. I am pretty sure that I have a slight hormone imbalance which is affecting my skin really negatively. I am on the hunt for a 'right-now' treatment (as retinoids and the such are long-term solutions).

The Sorbet Salon Skin Specialist Care Breakout Correcting Gel is said to fight breakouts and purify skin with salicylic acid and vitamin A (a common form is retinol in skin care), C and E. The salicylic acid is the 4th ingredient on the list (they are ordered from highest quantity to lowest on the label, by law), there are 13 ingredients so 4th is quite high up there.

I want to warn you that the product does contain various forms of alcohol (not ideal in skin care as it is dehydrating). To see if there is alcohol in a product look out for any ingredients that end in 'ol'.

This product also has melaleuca alternifolia leaf oil as an ingredient, which is more commonly known as tea tree oil - a topical anti-bacterial.

I purchased this product at Clicks, unfortunately they are not selling this product on the website. I got mine at the La Lucia store, however Sorbet stock is widely available in all Clicks stores and you can grab it at a Sorbet store as well.

PS. When I spoke to a Sorbet employee about the Sorbet skin care range they did admit that their ranges cater more to a 'beginner' in the skin care game. I will see how the breakout gel fares, and I am keen on trying more products from the Salon ranges, but keep this point in mind.

PPS. It smells great too!

Clicks and Dischem Beauty Haul || wet n wild photofocus Eyeshadow Primer || Jane Wonder

• wet n wild photofocus Eyeshadow Primer - R129.95 •

I am still on the hunt for a good eyeshadow primer, there are so many that still don't combat the oiliness on my eyelids that cause horrid creasing.

The wet n wild photofocus Eyeshadow Primer is said to boost shadow colour, it preps and brightens eyelids to lockdown colour and is long lasting and dries on clear. I have tried it out today and am super-impressed! So far - it does seem as it has boosted colour, it was tacky when I applied it which makes me feel like eyeshadow will really stick to it, and so far I have no creasing! I have on my Maybelline Colour Tattoo eyeshadow which has a cream base (more likely to crease), but so far nothing! I still want to try it out with my Max Factor Shimmer Eyeshadow which is even creamier - will let you know if it fares well ;)

Great news - wet n wild does not test on animals! Hooray!

wet n wild is found exclusively at Clicks stores. Unfortunately the primer is not available on Clicks website.

PS. wet n wild is another brand on the "Mix & Match 3 for 2" deal (wet n wild available on this deal until 23 October in selected stores), do yourself a favour and grab the Walking on Eggshells eyeshadow trio - it's always in my makeup bag!

PPS. I bought the Color Icon Glitter Single Eyeshadow in Brass a few months ago and it sadly was super crap. Couldn't get any pigment on my eyelid even when 'drenching' my brush in MAC Fix Plus :(

Clicks and Dischem Beauty Haul || OSH In-Shower Body Lotion and Vaseline Spray Moisturiser || Jane Wonder

• Oh So Heavenly Bye-Bye Stress Calming In-Shower Body Lotion - R32.95 •

My friend Siobhan (from Sugar and Spice blog) recommended the Oh So Heavenly In-Shower Body Lotion after reading my Winter Lifesavers blog post.

It is said to contain relaxing chamomile and lavender oils for soft, hydrated skin. I haven't tried it yet but will certainly let you know how it fares!

Unfortunately the Oh So Heavenly Bye-Bye Stress Calming In-Shower Body Lotion is not available on the Clicks website, but there are plenty of other Oh So Heavenly products that you can find here.

• Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser in "Deep Restore" - R89.95 •

I am so chuffed that we finally have a spray moisturiser in South Africa! I bought one in the UK a few years ago and really loved it. It is said to moisturise, absorb in seconds, restore dry skin, is non-greasy and has a light texture.

It. Fulfills. Every. One. Of. Its. Promises.

I am so happy I bought it last week! It's starting to heat up in Durban and I can't use very rich creams when it's so hot and humid. This spray moisturiser is the perfect consistency to not be too thick and works like a charm!

You can buy one of the three variants (Cocoa Radiance, Aloe Soothe and Deep Restore) - or all of them - on the Clicks website here.

Clicks and Dischem Beauty Haul || Cettua Face Masks || Jane Wonder

• Cettua Halfmoon Firming Eye Patch - R74.95

I am a big fan of eye patches, I don't really know if it is the novelty of them or whether they actually work ;)

The patches come in 5 pairs and feel cool and smooth on your skin. I am quite the fan of prancing around at home with my patches on. The application time is 20 - 30 minutes, but I like to leave mine on for a good few hours.

They contain the active ingredients adenosine (although it is very low on the ingredient list) and amino acids which help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and puffiness.

The masks contain dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline which is an overall anti-aging active ingredient for wrinkle correction, moisturization, and triple firming action (it is the seventh ingredient of many in the product). Again a warning that these products contain a few different forms of alcohol.

The patches also contain hydrogenated lecithin which is a skin-restoring ingredient.

You can find the eye patches on the Clicks website here

• Cettua Pure White Nose Strip (6 strips) - R45.95

These seem like the typical blackhead-removing nose strips. They are said to remove blackheads and dirt instantly. They have witch hazel, which helps to tighten pores and reduces redness, and titanium dioxide which is chemically processed to remove these impurities.

These are supposed to be left on for 10-15 minutes, but of course I leave them a little longer. I quite like the Biore range of blackhead-clearing strips (that you can get in the UK) so I wanted to test these ones against my Biore ones.

I used the Cettua one last night and I can't really say it cleaned up much of my dark-coloured, clogged pores. I am going to test my Biore ones again in about a week and see the actual difference (I haven't used Biore ones since I was in the UK in December but my dad bought me some back from London).

I used my "Mix & Match 3 for 2" deal and got these strips for free! The strips aren't on the website, but I grabbed mine from the Clicks La Lucia branch last week.

PS. The Biore ones are £8.39 for 6 strips, so really pricey when converting.

• Cettua Spot Clear Patch - R74.95

My all-time fave Cettua product. They contain tea tree (ingredient 6 on the list) and salicylic acid (ingredient 7). Those really are the two ingredients you need for combating spots on an instant-basis.

The patches contain grapeseed extract (an antioxidant that assists in anti-aging), epilobium angustifolium extract (can have soothing and antioxidant effects on skin) and volcanic ash (which removes dead skin cells, cleans pores, opens blackheads and is a gentle exfoliant).

You leave the patches on for 8-12 hours, ideally overnight. You get 48 patches in the pack and there are now two different sizes of patches - based on the size of your dreaded spot.

They work fantastically (from every time I have used them). I had a horrid hormonal spot on my jawline that was bugging me. Put one on my rather sore bump overnight and it was significantly smaller and less painful the next day!

You can find these lifesavers on the Clicks website here.

Clicks and Dischem Beauty Haul || Sorbet Masks || Jane Wonder

• Sorbet Cleansing Face Mask Spot & Blemish - R45.95

Sorbet have a great range of sheet masks available at Clicks and Sorbet stores. Due to my skin acting up lately, I thought I would give a spot and blemish task a try.

It is said to cleanse and refine skin with the double concentrate of salicylic acid -there are a whopping 25 ingredients in the serum for the mask and salicylic acid is number 24 on the list (clearly it is a seriously low quantity in the serum - and witch hazel extract (ingredient 6) to aid with the exfoliation and renewal of skin cells for a radiant and blemish-free complexion.

I haven't tried this mask yet, but you leave it on for 15-20 mins and then massage the leftover serum into your skin. I would do this before bed at night.

A warning, this product too contains alcohol, but also contains other plant extracts and amino acids.

I used my "Mix & Match 3 for 2" deal and got this mask for free! You can find this mask on Clicks' website here.

PS. The "Mix & Match 3 for 2" for Sorbet deal ends on 9 October.

• Sorbet Hydrating Foot Mask - R52.95

I am not nearly as fussy with the ingredients in a foot mask in comparison to something that I am applying to my delicate, almost 30-year old face. I've tried this foot mask (that name is so unglam) before and thought it was really cool, my feet felt fab.

There are little booties (made out of the same kind of material a sheet mask is made out of) that is filled with the serum. You leave the booties on for 20 minutes so I could suggest using the foot mask when you're going to be glued to your TV screen binge watching some series - no trotting around the house for you!

The mask is said to be softening and moisturising with hyaluronic acid (known for its anti-aging properties). It is also said to smooth, brighten and revitalise your skin with argan and peppermint oil which reveal radiant and glowing feet.

You can grab this mask on the Clicks website here.
